Market Street Hawker Centre reopens at CapitaSpring

For those working in the CBD, here’s a new lunch spot for you – especially if you need affordable meal options amidst the rising cost of living.

The Market Street Hawker Centre has finally reopened. This time at its permanent location, at the CapitaSpring building, next to Raffles Place MRT station.

For those not in the know, the iconic hawker centre was previously located at the second and third levels of Golden Shoe Carpark at 88 Market Street, before it moved to Market Street Interim Hawker Centre.

Market Street Interim Hawker Centre

After a four-year stint at its interim locale right outside of Telok Ayer MRT, Market Street Hawker Centre has now officially reopened itself on 5 April 2022 and is now located on the second and third storey of CapitaSpring building.

The new two-storey hawker centre, which comprises 56 stalls, is just two minutes away from Raffles Place MRT! Reportedly, the majority of the 56 stalls were originally from Market Street Interim Hawker Centre.

These stalls include Tong Fong Fatt Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice, Tiong Bahru Wanton Mee, Market Street Nasi Lemak, Golden Nur Nasi Briyani, Ah Liang Ipoh Hor Fun, Sunrise Traditional Coffee and Toast, and even the Golden Shoe Chicken Rice that’s been around since 1965!

Indeed, the reopening of the hawker centre comes right in time as we are all returning to the workplace.

Just a reminder though, it is now mandatory to return our own trays and crockery at hawker centres and other public dining places in Singapore.

So, unless you’d like to get slapped with fines, be sure to clean up after yourselves and return your used crockery and trays! That will help reduce the cleaners’ workload and their having to make frequent rounds to clean tables.
