Job searches are always exciting – especially with a multitude of possibilities in the market, you are spoilt for choice! Have a look at some hot topic industries you might want to consider in your search:
Healthcare
As we’ve seen in the past two years of the COVID-19 pandemic and considering that Singapore has an aging population, there is definitely great need for healthcare workers to care for our nation.
According to The Straits Times, the number of healthcare workers in the public sector has increased by 1,800 to 62,500 by the end of last year and this boom can be attributed to just that. While the hours are long and grueling, the job is also one that brings much fulfillment. It is one that will always be needed – as long as humans are around.
Financial Services
Many say that money makes the world go round and they are not wrong! The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) predicts that a total of 9,400 jobs will be permanently added to the local financial sector in 2022. This includes jobs like analyst roles, relationship managers and risk managers.
On top of that, roles that have never existed before are also being introduced because of the rise of technology. Think of cryptocurrency, NFTs and bitcoin – these are just a few new areas to look out for!
Education
As reported by Channel News Asia, the number of teachers in Singapore has increased over the past two decades, from over 22,200 to just over 33,100 in 1998 and 2017 respectively. With the number of educational institutions in our midst, finding people interested in teaching and inspiring young minds becomes all the more a growing need.
As the cherry on top, the Ministry of Education (MOE) has also introduced various measures to continue keeping the trade competitive, such as salary increments. Besides this, there are also career progression, learning and development opportunities, as well as a good work environment, to thrive in the education industry.
Cybersecurity
With Singapore moving towards being a Smart Nation, the government has put aside $1 billion in 2020 to build up the government’s cyber and data security capabilities over the next three years. In turn, a bigger budget leads to more jobs being created.
This is also an especially relevant field to explore as more of society becomes technologically-savvy and the risk of cyber threats increases.
Content Creation
No matter what industry you are from, media is an important tool for brands or businesses to gain awareness easily. Luckily, with the rise of fast-moving social media platforms like Tiktok and Instagram, hopping onboard the content creation train has never been easier.
The cool thing is that anything can be considered content these days! Many places are looking for creatives to come up with fun, wacky ideas to boost their brand. Alternatively, if you are able to go viral on your own, form a following, get sponsors and post consistently, being an influencer is also a good option to explore.
All in all, with technological advancements and the barrier to entry being lower for some jobs, it’s never too late to expand your horizons and explore a different field!
